What is Reflexology ?

A complementary massage therapy that revolves around the application of differing amounts of pressure to the hands, feet, or ears, most often used to relieve stress or discomfort. This type of massage upholds the belief that there are certain areas of the body that are connected through energy channels in which the aim of reflexology is to then remove energy blockages that occur.

How does Reflexology work?

There are a few different theories about how reflexology works. In Traditional Chinese Medicine Reflexology rests on the Chinese belief in “qi” or the body’s “vital energy.”

This belief is centred around the flow of this energy throughout the body, this energy however can be blocked for example by stress. This blockage can lead to illness if not corrected. Reflexology is the treatment or the unblocking of this energy flow. Reflexologists will use different pressure points that correspond to different body parts in the treatment process. Reflexologists use maps of these points in the feet, hands, and ears to determine where they should apply pressure.

In Reflexology treatment the touch sends energy flowing through the body until it reaches the area in need of the healing treatment.
